Deputies seek thief in Friday bank robbery

By Times Staff Writers

DUNEDIN - Investigators on Tuesday released a grainy, black-and-white surveillance photograph of a man who robbed a Wachovia Bank late Friday afternoon. Detectives would not say how much money the man stole.

He entered the bank on 912 Patricia Ave. about 4:15 p.m. and handed the clerk a note, implying he was armed, the Sheriff's Office said. The man stuffed the cash in a white plastic grocery bag and left.

The suspect is a white man with a tan complexion in his late 40s to early 50s, 5 feet 10 and about 160 pounds. He is thin with a pot belly and graying hair that is straight and short.

He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and blue flowered board shorts.

Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call sheriff's Detective Ed Crandall at (727) 582-6200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS.
