TAMPA - Kayla Suskauer, a talented two-sport star as an eighth-grader last year at the Academy of the Holy Names, has transferred to Plant, athletic directors at both schools said Tuesday.
Suskauer played outside hitter for the volleyball team and was the softball squad's top pitcher. She had attended Holy Names since pre-kindergarten, a span of 10 years.
"They were looking for a change of pace," Holy names AD Pete Young said. "Kayla was a great student in our middle school and we wish her the best at Plant. She was an exceptional softball player for us last season."
Last spring on the mound, Suskauer went 11-3 with a 0.88 ERA and 136 strikeouts in 103 innings. She tossed three no-hitters to earn Times honorable mention All-County honors.
