PINELLAS PARK - A 74-year-old woman died Thursday morning after a car jumped a curb and hit her as she stood on the sidewalk.

The 1989 Mercury hit Dorothy M. Spann in front of a business at 4561 Mainlands Boulevard W at 8:15 a.m. Spann, of 82nd Avenue in Pinellas Park, was taken to Bayfront Medical Center where she later died.

The driver, 76-year-old Phillis M. Corrow, was pulling into a parking space when she stepped on the gas pedal instead of the brake, according to a Pinellas Park police report. The car ran over the curb and hit Spann, pinning her against a wall.

Corrow was cited for careless driving, according to a news release. She was not arrested.
