Ready to role?
Interested in community theater? Here's some of the bay area's theater troupes, with information on their upcoming auditions and productions.

CARROLLWOOD PLAYERS

The Carrollwood Players will hold auditions for the musical I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change, 7-9 p.m. Aug. 28 and 29.
The musical, which follows the evolution of relationships from caveman days to modern times, is written by Joe DiPietro, with music by Jimmy Roberts. Cast members must be able to sing, act and follow choreography.
Those auditioning should prepare a song to demonstrate their vocal range and a comic monologue. There will also be a cold reading from the script. Backstage crew is also needed.
The eighth annual one-act weekend will be Aug. 26-28, with 11 original one-act plays making their debuts.
The plays, selected from more than 100 entries, are The Phone Call by Maggie Berrill, Not at Home by Kathleen Warnock, Hey Sailor by Barbara Anton, The Pathology of My Happiness by Ray Crew, Three Minutes to Venus and Mars by Carol Cohen, Real Estate by Jolene Goldenthal, Rent a Writer by Robert Kinast, Trains by Kevin Kobasko, Strangeways by Rob McDonald, Tessa's Mom by Jolene Goldenthal and Tastes Just Like Chicken by Chris Battle.
Performances will be 8 p.m. Aug. 26 and 27 and 3 p.m. Aug. 28. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for students and seniors.
The players are also beginning rehearsals for a new adaptation of Bram Stoker's Dracula. Production dates are set for Oct. 14-Nov. 5. The Carrollwood Players by Young People are also working on their productions of Wanted: Dragon Slayer and The Book of Spells, to be staged Oct. 22, 29 and Nov. 5.

There will be auditions for Godspell, 7-10 p.m. Aug. 29-30. Ten performers are needed in this comic adaptation of the life of Jesus Christ, according to the Gospel of St. Matthew.
The show uses clowning, pantomime, vaudeville and acrobatics to achieve an entertaining telling of the Scripture's parables.
The Prince and the Pauper is still running this weekend and next weekend, at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 3 p.m. Sundays. Tickets are $14 for adults, $12 for seniors and students and $10 for groups of 10 or more.
MASQUE COMMUNITY THEATRE

The Masque is currently at work on its production of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown. The musical will run Sept. 30-Oct. 16, with show times at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays.
Tickets are $14 for adults, $12 for students and seniors and $10 for children 12 and younger.
They are also rehearsing their adults-only production of Sylvia, a comedy by A.R. Gurney that focuses on husband-wife relationships and the impact that relocation and an unraveling career have upon marital relations. Productions will be 8 p.m. Sept. 8-10, and 2 p.m. Sept 10-11.
GORILLA THEATRE

The Gorilla Theatre will stage its production of Caryl Churchill's A Number, an hourlong psychological thriller that deals with human cloning and father-son relationships.
The play will run Sept. 8-25, with show times at 7 p.m. Thursdays, 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 3 p.m. Sundays. Tickets are $25 for general admission and $20 for students, seniors and members of the military.
