ST. PETERSBURG - Two girls waiting for a school bus early Thursday told police a stranger reached for one of them. They ran to a nearby house for safety.

The incident happened at 6:56 a.m. at a bus stop at 23rd Avenue and Seventh Street S. Police said a man engaged the girls in conversation before reaching for the younger of the two, a 6-year-old.

The subject is described as a black male in his 30s, 6-foot-2, 185 pounds, with a slender build. He was wearing a yellow shirt, tan shorts and a green and white hat, according to police.
