TAMPA - A Plant City man turned himself in to authorities Monday morning, two days after police say he stabbed his 17-year-old stepson at least 10 times with a metal fork.
Lazaro Ramirez, 36, of 3102 Sammonds Road, Apt. 67, was booked into the Orient Road jail on one count of attempted second-degree murder.
Sgt. Jim Schultz of the Plant City Police Department said Ramirez and his stepson got into an argument at the Sammonds Road apartment about 6:30 a.m. Saturday. Ramirez grabbed a fork and stabbed the teenager several times in the chest and back, Schultz said.
The teen went to South Florida Baptist Hospital in Plant City, where he was treated for his wounds.
Ramirez left the apartment before police arrived, Schultz said. Officers went to ModTech, the manufacturing and construction company in Plant City where he works, but he was not there.
When Ramirez returned to work Monday, he called police and said he was ready to turn himself in, Schultz said.
Ramirez is being held without bail in the county jail.
