Ex-Northside Christian, SPC ace picked for all-star game

Former Northside Christian and St. Petersburg College pitcher Todd Redmond was selected to play in the Class A New York/Penn League All-Star game Tuesday at KeySpan Park in Brooklyn, N.Y. Redmond was a 39th round draft pick of the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2004 and signed before the 2005 draft.

He currently plays for the Williamsport (Pa.) Crosscutters. As a starter, Redmond is 1-1 with a 1.27 ERA in 562/3 innings. He has a team leading 47 strikeouts and 16 walks.

Redmond led St. Petersburg College to its first ever state junior college championship and a second place finish in the JUCO national tournament. He was 12-2 with a 2.10 ERA for the Titans last season.
