At Brooksville, C.J. Pate rushed for 150 yards and three touchdowns on 15 carries to lead visiting Tampa Baptist Academy, a first-year program, past Hernando Christian 26-6 on Saturday. Pate scored on runs of 34, 8 and 5 yards, all in the second half. Armondo Jonescia had the Rams' other touchdown, which came on a 42-yard run. The Tampa Baptist defense held Hernando Christian to less than 200 total yards.

"For a team that played for the first time, I thought they competed real well," Rams coach Dennis Duggan said. "There were a lot of mistakes, though, and we need to tighten up some bolts."

Tampa Baptist plays its inaugural regular-season game Friday at Ocoee Central Florida Christian.
