TAMPA - The City of Tampa announced it has added a new $500,000 truck to a fire station in New Tampa, one of Tampa's fastest-growing areas. The truck, called a "quint" for its five main features as a combined firetruck and ladder truck, is the first of its kind for Tampa.
"That truck was bought specifically to meet the unique challenges of serving that area, because the crew at Fire Station 21 (in New Tampa) never knows what it's going to have to deal with next," said Tampa Fire Rescue Capt. Bill Wade. "It could be a small house fire, it could be an apartment fire, it could be a car wreck or someone having a heart attack. This truck will help that station deal with all of those emergencies."
The truck will be displayed at an open house at Fire Station 21 on Thursday at 2 p.m, and Tampa Mayor Pam Iorio and fire Chief Dennis Jones will be there. The station is at 18902 Green Pine Lane off Cross Creek Boulevard, in New Tampa.
