By MICHAEL CANNING
Published August 26, 2005

LOCATION: 5008 S MacDill Ave., between Gandy and Ballast Point boulevards

DEVELOPER: Samter Homes Inc.

DESCRIPTION: Two three-story buildings with 14 loft townhomes each. One bedroom, one bathroom units are 637 square feet; two bedroom, 21/2 bathroom units are 1,150 or 1,266 square feet.

PRICE: $150,000 to $290,000

ARCHITECT: Designed in-house by the developer

AMENITIES: Classic loft interior design features, such as high ceilings, polished concrete floors and exposed duct work. Units have private balconies and floor-to-ceiling windows. Each building has two community balconies on the second floor.

WHAT THEY'RE SAYING: The project's three floorplans are named Aviator, Bomber and Commander. The logo has an outline of a KC-135 tanker plane. "It all pays homage to (MacDill) Air Force Base," said Candace Courter, listing agent for MacDill Landings.

TIMELINE: Demolition of a vacant church on the site started Aug. 16. Construction could start as early as two weeks and should last 12 months, Courter said.

MOVE-IN DATE: Fall 2006
