Deputies search for 17-year-old girl

RUSKIN - Hillsborough sheriff's deputies were searching for a 17-year-old girl who left a distressing note for her parents and disappeared.

Jenni Rae Moreland of Ruskin was last seen by her mother Tuesday morning as she lay sleeping in her bed, according to Debbie Carter, a spokeswoman for the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

Jenni, who has graduated from high school, normally would drive to stables in Wimauma every day after she woke up to care for the family's horses, Carter said.

The family found her car at the stables about 6 p.m., but there was no sign of Jenni, Carter said.

She had left a note for her parents saying she was depressed, and they became very concerned about her, Carter said. She has never disappeared before.

Deputies have talked to Jenni's friends and her boyfriend but have not been able to find her, Carter said.

Anyone with information about Jenni can call the Sheriff's Office at (813) 247-8200.
