Bucs lose opener
By JIM REESE
Published August 28, 2005
Berkeley Prep fell to Donelson Christian Academy of Nashville, Tenn., 12-7 on Friday, losing in the final two minutes on a broken play.
After going ahead 7-0 on a 65-yard scoring run by Andrew MacIntire in the first quarter, Berkeley Prep saw its 7-6 fourth-quarter lead and victory vanish when Donelson's quarterback fumbled on a handoff and the trailing halfback picked up the loose ball, rumbling 40 yards to the Buccaneer 9 with two minutes to play. Two plays later, Donelson scored to earn the victory.
Donelson Christian is the defending Class A Tennessee state champion and has a 29-1 record over the past two years, its only loss coming in the 2003 state final.
