Molestation trial delayed indefinitely for ex-judge

By Times Staff Writer

INVERNESS - The trial for Gary Graham, the Inverness lawyer and former Citrus County judge accused of molesting two 10-year-old girls, has been delayed indefinitely.

Graham, 57, faces a single count of sexual battery on a child younger than 12 and two counts of lewd and lascivious conduct. The alleged sexual contact happened in December 2003, court records show.

Graham, who has pleaded not guilty, did not attend a scheduled hearing Wednesday morning. But his attorney, Stephen Romine of Tampa, told Circuit Judge Ric Howard he needed more time to prepare for trial. Romine said there are additional discovery documents he wanted to review. Assistant State Attorney Richard Buxman didn't argue with Romine's request.

Another status conference is scheduled for 9 a.m. Nov. 7 in Howard's courtroom at the Citrus County Courthouse. Graham will be required to attend the hearing.
