The Buzz

WHO'S HOT?

Those in the sports world who ponied up to support victims of Hurricane Katrina.

WHO'S NOT?

Andy Roddick. An American Express ad campaign asks, "Has anybody seen Andy's mojo?" The question seems appropriate since Roddick didn't have any in a first-round U.S. Open loss to some guy named Gilles Muller. It's a good thing Roddick fired former coach Brad Gilbert, huh?

WEEKLY MEMO

To Steve Spurrier: When did you hire Clyde Christensen as offensive coordinator?

BY THE NUMBERS (according to me)

7: New viewers ESPN will attract by having "singer" Nick Lachey join College GameDay.

250,000: New viewers ESPN would have attracted by hiring the orangutan from the Clint Eastwood flicks, Every Which Way But Loose and Any Which Way You Can.

2023: Projected year of Andre Agassi's retirement.

THE LIST

Rejected Gator football slogans:

Give 'em a Suburban, Urban!

And you thought Spurrier was cocky.

Forgetting the Ron Zook era, one blowout at a time.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Look out 1972 Dolphins, here come the Bucs!
