KENNETH CITY - For at least the 14th consecutive year, the property tax rate for this town of 4,500 will remain steady at 3.754 mills.
That does not mean tax bills will stay the same, however. Increased property values here will bring in more tax money. A mill is $1 of tax for every $1,000 of assessed property value. Kenneth City's operating budget for the 2005-06 fiscal year, which received tentative approval Thursday, is $2.12-million. About $1.08-million of that will pay for the town's Police Department. The proposed budget is about $98,411 more than the current operating budget of $2.02-million. Final approval is scheduled for 7 p.m. Sept. 14 in the Community Hall, 4600 58th St. N.
