BOULDER, Colo. - Mason Crosby kicked a 47-yard field goal with four seconds left Saturday to lift Colorado to a come-from-behind 31-28 victory over Colorado State.
The teams combined for 20 points in the final 2:32. Crosby started it by tying the score at 21 with a 48-yard field goal. Two plays later, the Rams' Justin Holland threw his third interception in a 15-minute span, a floater that Gerett Burl returned to the Rams 23.
On the next snap, Hugh Charles ran untouched for a 23-yard touchdown, his second score of the fourth quarter, to make it 28-21.
Holland, however, marched the Rams 80 yards in 54 seconds and capped it with a 9-yard pass to Kory Sperry to tie the score again.
Colorado State squibbed the kickoff, but Colorado returned it to the 40. Joel Klatt hit Patrick Williams to get the ball into Rams territory, and after another 8-yard gain, Crosby came on for the win.
"Before the kick, I was just looking at the uprights, knowing I was going to get it," Crosby said.
No. 2 Texas 60, La-Lafayette 3AUSTIN, Texas - Vince Young threw for three touchdowns and ran for one, and Jamaal Charles' 135 rushing yards set a school record for a debuting freshman.
Young was 13-of-15 for 173 yards in the first half as the Longhorns built a 39-3 lead. He hit Nate Jones on a 10-yard touchdown and tight end David Thomas for touchdowns of 20 and 7 yards. The half also included rushing touchdowns by Selvin Young (9 yards), Charles (14) and Ramonce Taylor (30 on a reverse).
KANSAS ST. 35, FIU 21: Thomas Clayton ran for 177 yards and two touchdowns for the host Wildcats.
Clayton's 80-yard run on the first play of the second half put Kansas State up 20-7. On the ensuing series, Jermaine Moreira returned a punt 67 yards. Four plays later, Clayton scored from 2 yards, and Allen Webb ran in the two-point conversion to make it 28-7.
KANSAS 30, FAU 19: Backup Brian Luke directed four scoring drives and Robinson High graduate Clark Green ran for 107 yards for the host Jayhawks. Luke, who relieved Adam Barmann midway through the second quarter, hit Jeff Foster for a 17-yard touchdown to put Kansas up 19-13 with 32 seconds left in the third.
After Scott Webb's 32-yard field goal early in the fourth, Jon Cornish broke two tackles on a 29-yard run to make it 30-12. The Owls scored on the game's last play on Danny Embick's 15-yard pass to Frantz Simeon.
NEBRASKA 25, MAINE 7: Jordan Congdon kicked four field goals and the host Cornhuskers had 11 sacks and scored a defensive touchdown. The I-AA Black Bears did not get past the Nebraska 44 until Ron Whitcomb's 52-yard touchdown to Kevin McMahan made it 15-7 with 11:57 left. But two minutes later, Nebraska linebacker Bo Ruud ran back an interception 27 yards for a touchdown.
MISSOURI 44, ARKANSAS ST. 17: Brad Smith threw four touchdowns for the Tigers in Kansas City, Mo. Smith, 29-for-37 for 317 yards, also gained 95 yards on 12 carries to finish at 3,083, passing Brock Olivo for second in school history and 115 behind Zack Abron. Missouri scored on 5 of 7 first-half series and had 417 yards of offense for a 30-0 lead.
OKLAHOMA ST. 15, MONTANA ST. 10: Donovan Woods threw for a touchdown pass and ran for one for the host Cowboys. His 23-yard pass to brother D'Juan on Oklahoma State's first possession of the second half erased a 10-8 deficit. Montana State threatened late, but Oklahoma State forced a punt when Darnell Smith tackled Justin Domineck for a 6-yard loss on third down from the Cowboys 39.
IOWA ST. 32, ILLINOIS ST. 21: Stevie Hicks ran 17 yards for the tiebreaking score in the third for the host Cyclones. Iowa State appeared to take control when Bert Meyer, who threw for 314 yards, hit Todd Blythe for 4 to make it 29-14 with 9:34 left. But on the next play, Laurent Robinson, who earlier caught a 56-yard touchdown, caught an 80-yarder. And the win wasn't sealed until Shawn Moorehead sacked Luke Drone at the Iowa State 42 with 1:47 left.
BAYLOR 28, SMU 23: Paul Mosley ran for 105 yards and three touchdowns, two in the final 7:47, as the Bears ended a 24-game road losing streak. His 1-yard run midway through the fourth put Baylor up 21-14. The Mustangs, who haven't won a nonconference game since 2000, recovered a fumbled punt return at the Baylor 19 but got only a field goal. The Bears answered with an 80-yard drive capped by Mosley's 12-yard run.
