The Hernando High varsity cheerleaders recently returned from the National Cheerleading Association summer camp, where they received the following awards:

Spirit Award - This award is selected by the camp members for the team that exemplifies true team spirit and camaraderie.

Spirit Stick - This is presented to the squad showing the most sincere spirit and enthusiasm throughout the weeklong camp. This award is voted on by all teams.

The National Championship Bid - This is awarded to the team that exemplifies the best technical skill and cheerleading technique. This bid is extended to a team to compete at the NCA National Championship in Dallas, Texas, on Dec. 27-29.

Hernando had nine All American nominees - This is awarded to outstanding individuals who display strength in cheer motions and technique, leadership ability and overall attitude at camp. These individuals are eligible to perform at NCA special events, including an invitation to Hawaii.
