Looking for something to do? A play's the thing

Community theater fans have plenty to choose from:

- Cyrano, The Musical continues at Playhouse 19 community theater, 865 U.S. 19, Crystal River. The show opens this weekend and runs until Sept. 25. Call 563-1333.

- Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is the season opener at Richey Suncoast Theatre, 6237 Grand Blvd., New Port Richey. Performances are at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays through Sept. 24; 2:30 p.m. Sundays through Sept. 25. Tickets are $15. The box office is open 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and an hour before each show. Call (727) 842-6777.

- The Mikado has performances at Ocala Civic Theatre through Oct. 2. Curtain times are 8:15 p.m. for evening performances and 2:15 p.m. for matinees. The box office is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and on the Saturdays on which there are performances from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

- Puttin' on the Ritz, the songs of Irving Berlin, continues through Sept. 25 at the Show Palace Dinner Theatre, 16128 U.S. 19, Hudson. Shows are at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, 3 p.m. Sundays, and 1:30 p.m. some Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Doors open two hours before each show for cash bar and included buffet. Dinner and show, $41; show only, $29.95; ages 12 and younger, $23.45 and $18.45, all plus tax and tip. Call 863-7949 in west Pasco; toll-free elsewhere at 1-888-655-7469.

- Stage West Community Playhouse's season opener, the rollicking comedy Table Manners, is the first play of Alan Ayckbourn's trilogy, The Norman Conquests. But, unlike, say, a Neil Simon trilogy, where the story progresses through three phases, Table Manners tells the whole story - or, to be more precise, the whole plot - without the necessity of seeing the other two plays. Stage West Community Playhouse is at 8390 Forest Oaks Blvd., Spring Hill. Performances are at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays through Sept. 24; 2 p.m. Sundays through Sept. 25. Tickets are $15. The box office is open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and an hour before each show. Call (352) 683-5113.
