WHAT'S NEW: With Gold Glove candidate Orlando Hudson out with a sprained ankle, Toronto likely will try rookie Aaron Hill at second base. The Toronto Star reported the club has considered Hill at the position since he was called up in May to fill in for injured third baseman Corey Koskie. Hill's only game at second as a pro came last month in Detroit.
INJURIES: Pitcher Roy Halladay is on the disabled list because of a broken leg.
STREAKS: On Sept. 2 against the Rays, the Blue Jays snapped a streak of 69 consecutive innings without a home run when Frank Menechino hit one off Mark Hendrickson. The team has just two home runs in its past 13 games.
WHO'S HOT: Reliever Jason Frasor has struck out 14 in his past six outings (111/3 innings). In 12 games beginning Aug. 4, he has allowed three earned runs in 17 innings, going from a 4.40 ERA to 3.66.
WHO'S NOT: Centerfielder Vernon Wells is 5-for-39 in his past 11 games with zero extra-base hits and one RBI.
SERIES: The last of six meetings. The Blue Jays lead the series 9-7 and 69-59 overall. They are 4-2 at the Trop, where they are 28-33 overall.
KEEP IN MIND: Toronto's three-game series victory this week over the Orioles was its first since an Aug. 15-17 series win over the Angels. Since then, the Blue Jays are 6-13.
THEY SAID IT: "We don't know how bad it will be. But there's a lot of time left (in the season), so I don't know what it means." - manager John Gibbons in the Star on Hudson's injury.
