Lend a hand . . . or a paw

In Dunedin on Saturday, folks can reach out to pets like this fellow above, who was enjoying a Mardi Gras parade in New Orleans last spring. The fundraiser for the Louisiana SPCA will feature a Mardi Gras-style dog parade, with pets and owners in costume. Plus there will be agility demonstrations, vendors and a costume contest.

The event runs from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday at shelters 1, 2 and 3 at Hammock Park, 1900 San Mateo Drive (next to Andrews Memorial Chapel), Dunedin. The parade starts at 9 a.m. Admission is by donation. (727) 744-8692.

For other fundraisers for Hurricane Katrina relief, see listings in the Music, Get Away, Stage, Art and Night Spots calendars.
