The 14th Studio Waltz lets participants get up close to artisans and their crafts at nine locations in northern Pinellas County.

Watching an artist at work will never completely illuminate the creative process but you can get some sense of the physical skill involved. The Studio Waltz, now in its 14th year, gives you that opportunity on Saturday. Thirty artists and craftsmen in nine venues will ply their trades in full view.
Potters, painters, printers, weavers and sculptors open their studios, from Clearwater to Palm Harbor, so this isn't a park-and-walk event. But the area, which includes Safety Harbor, Oldsmar and Dunedin, has some charming restaurants along the way and you can make an early fall day of it. (But bring a hat and sunscreen since fall is still just a state of mind in these parts.)
The Dunedin Fine Arts Center is one of the stops that will have artists at work and also a new exhibition, "One Planet - One People" that includes new interactive displays for kids in the center's David L. Mason Children's Art Museum.
The studios are free, including the Dunedin Fine Arts Center but admission to its children's area is $4. Maps with directions to each venue are available at all tour stops.
