Season stacks up as one for fun

The area concert and comedy schedule is chock-full of flavors for all different tastes.

THE FLORIDA ORCHESTRA

Sunday Matinee Classics Concert series, Center for the Arts at River Ridge, Town Center Road, New Port Richey. All performances are at 3 p.m. Single performances are $21.50 for outer sections, $23.50 for side and center rear and $26.50 for center front, all plus $4 per order for handling. Season tickets are $63, $66, and $72, plus $5 postage and handling per order.

Conductor is the orchestra's associate conductor, Susan Haig, who will give commentary about the selections. Tickets are on sale at the Florida Orchestra Ticket Center, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. RICHEY COMMUNITY ORCHESTRA

DEC. 18: "Sinatra Salutes the Season," holiday dinner show, with singer Larry Bene, at 1 p.m. at Spartan Manor, Massachusetts Avenue, New Port Richey. Dinner and show, $25.

JAN. 29: "Pirates!" with guest performers to be announced, at 3 p.m. at the Center for the Arts at River Ridge, Town Center Road, New Port Richey. Tickets are $10.

FEB. 26: "Cole Porter Classics," featuring singers David and Michele Pruyn, at 3 p.m. at the Center for the Arts at River Ridge, Town Center Road, New Port Richey. Tickets are $10.

MARCH 19: "That Big Band Swing," featuring trumpet player Charly Raymond, at 3 p.m. at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 9426 Little Road (just north of Embassy Boulevard intersection), Port Richey. Tickets are $15.

APRIL 2: "Cinema Magic," featuring singers John and Mary K. Wilson and their son, Paul Wilson, at 3 p.m. at the Center for the Arts at River Ridge, Town Center Road, New Port Richey. Tickets are $10.

HERNANDO SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA

The orchestra performs three concerts a year. At 2 p.m. Sundays and 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays, performances are at Springstead High School Theater, 3300 Mariner Blvd., Spring Hill. At 7:30 p.m. Saturdays, concerts are at Hernando Performing Arts Center, 700 Bell Ave., Brooksville.

Tickets are $10 for a single concert seat or $27 for all three concerts. NOV. 27, 28 AND DEC. 3: "Tis the Season," a holiday concert. Guest performers are the Bells of St. Frances, a three-octave handbell choir formed in 1994 by Michele DiLuzio, the associate conductor of the Hernando Symphony Orchestra.

Dinner and shows are held at the lodge, 9135 Denton Ave., Hudson, on Saturday evenings. Dinner is served at 6 p.m.; shows are at 7:30 p.m. All prime seating has been sold. OCT. 1: The Comedy of Stu Moss, with opening act "Celebration."

NOV. 12: The Synd'Cats, four singers who perform in the style of Frank Sinatra's Rat Pack.

DEC. 17: Robin Roth sings classics, standards, swing, pop, Broadway and today's hits.

JAN. 21: "A Tribute to Tom Jones" by Las Vegas performer Rob Prospect, accompanied by a live band and Vegas-style dancers.

FEB. 11: The Shenanigans, three musician-comedians.

MARCH 11: Joey Dee and the Starliters sing their biggest hit, Peppermint Twist, and other favorites. Joining the group are David Brigati, who sang and danced with the original Starliters, and Bobby Valli, the younger brother of Frankie Valli, lead singer for the Four Seasons (Big Girls Don't Cry).

PASCO-HERNANDO COMMUNITY COLLEGE FOUNDATION

All PHCC Foundation shows are presented at 2 p.m. in the PHCC Performing Arts Center on the Pasco West Campus, 10230 Ridge Road, New Port Richey. The season is from Oct. 22-April 2. Individual shows are $16 for floor seats, $18 for outer stadium-style seats and $20 for prime center seating. All 10 shows are $128-$160; Series A (7 different shows) has a 15 percent discount; Series B (5 different shows), 10 percent discount. Tickets can be purchased at the West Campus bookstore from 10 a.m. to noon and 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. DEC. 11: Martin Preston performs a tribute to the late pianist, Liberace (I'll Be Seeing You, Rhapsody in Blue).

JAN. 22: Singer John Davidson will do country, pop and original songs.

JAN. 28: Smokey Joe's Cafe, a song and dance show with the best of Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller (Love Potion No. 9, Yakety Yak, Charlie Brown, Kansas City, Searchin').

FEB. 12: Branson singer-dancer Delen, who was nominated as Branson's best female vocalist and entertainer of the year, presents The Delen Show.

FEB. 18: The 42nd Street Big Band plays classic songs of the Benny Goodman era.

MARCH 18: Trumpeter Charly Raymond gives a tribute to Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass.

APRIL 2: Leanne Williams gives a tribute to Patsy Cline (I Go to Pieces).

COMMUNITY PERFORMING ARTS GUILD

Performances are on Saturdays at the Mariner United Methodist Church, 7079 Mariner Blvd., Spring Hill. Subscriptions are $55 for one person, $100 for two. This includes a special "subscribers only" show by John Davidson. Nonsubscribers may attend on a space-available basis and will be asked to make a donation. CHASCO FIESTA

Music, carnival, a street parade, a river parade, the Lighthouse Ball, races, food booths, arts and crafts and a genuine American Indian festival with dancers, singers and exhibits highlight Chasco Fiesta 2006. Dates are March 23-April 2.

LITTLE EVERGLADES STEEPLECHASE

The races will be March 5 at the Little Everglades Ranch off U.S. 301 north of Dade City. General admission tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the gate; carloads are $35 in advance, $50 at the gate. Lawn boxes in tiered levels at the finish line include eight tickets, a 10-by-12 foot lawn box, buffet and open bar at the nearby Bunker Club, all for $2,500. Tents and chairs for 60 to 110 guests are $2,500 to $4,500. Backstretch tailgate spaces are $100 to $400, depending on location and number of guests. Infield tickets and spaces also are available.
