TAMPA - Where did Mike Fenton go?
That was the question after Armwood's 28-9 win over Jefferson. Jefferson's offensive coordinator was ejected in the first quarter for arguing with an official and left the stadium.
Later a man who appeared to be Fenton was seen atop a parking garage across the street from the field. If it was him, Jefferson could be in trouble.
Florida High School Athletic Association rules state disqualified coaches must not be visible to "student-athletes, officials, spectators or other coaches." They can have no contact with or give instruction to athletes or coaches until the game is over. Jefferson coach Mike Simmonds said he did not know where Fenton went and did not talk to him via phone during the game. Armwood administrators told county athletic director Vernon Korhn, who was in the stands, they thought Fenton had violated the rules. Korhn said he "did not visibly see it" and therefore could not comment.
