How did you get started in investing?
I wanted to have time on my side, so around 30, it just seemed like time to do something. I started with a 401(k) at the place where I worked.
What is your best investment so far?
A commercial building I bought in 2001.
What is your worst investment so far?
Microsoft stock. I bought it on a downhill slide.
What have you learned about investing that you think others should know?
Don't react too quickly to information. The market doesn't like quick decisions.
How would you describe your approach to investing?
With long term in mind, don't try to get rich quick.
What do you find the most difficult about investing?
Parting with the money, actually doing something about your decisions.
How are you invested now?
I guess 20 percent mutual funds, 80 percent real estate.
Do you think now is a good time to invest?
Any time is a good time. If I can invest in this building on Sept. 10, 2001, and everything worked out, how can you get worse than that? If Sept. 10, 2001, is a good time to invest, any time is a good time.
What is your goal for your investing?
Just have enough money to live the lifestyle I have now.
What is your biggest money concern right now?
Keeping a paycheck going. I'm self-employed. Keeping the cash flow going.
Where do you go for your investment tips?
I read the St. Petersburg Times Money section.
