Vandals strike at three elementary schools

By ALEXANDRA ZAYAS
Published September 19, 2005

Three Hillsborough County elementary schools were vandalized over the weekend, authorities said.

At Oak Park Elementary, 4322 E Ellicott St., 19 portable classrooms were broken into, but nothing was stolen. At Lutz Elementary, 202 Fifth Ave. SE, five school buses were broken into and sprayed with a fire extinguisher. Vandals attempted to set the dashboard of one bus on fire. And at Morgan Woods Elementary, 7001 Armand Drive, vandals broke in and tagged walls and sidewalks with gang graffiti.

Hillsborough sheriff's deputies and Tampa police are investigating whether these three acts of vandalism are related.
