DOVER - A 16-year-old boy died in his family's swimming pool on Saturday.

Daniel Stricklin was last seen alive when his family left for work earlier in the day, according to a Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office report. Family members asked him to clean the swimming pool.

When they returned about 8 p.m., they saw his body at the bottom of the pool. Hillsborough County Fire Rescue officers couldn't revive Daniel, who was pronounced dead at the hospital.

It was unclear if the boy had drowned. A medical examiner's report on the cause of death was not available Sunday night.

Daniel was a student at Durant High School in Plant City.

His father declined to comment on Sunday.

Neighbors said they didn't know the family who live in one of the few houses in the neighborhood, amid dozens of mobile homes.
