TAMPA - A 33-year-old woman jogging early Tuesday in Bloomingdale East Park in Valrico was sexually assaulted, according to Hillsborough sheriff's deputies, who used a tracking dog to apprehend a suspect.

The woman told deputies she was running around 1 a.m. near Orangecrest Street and Greenhollow Lane, an area frequented by joggers. She said a man forced her into the park and sexually assaulted her, then fled. A sheriff's canine unit located a suspect nearby, officials said.

Gustavo Rivera, 25, of Brandon was being held without bail in the Hillsborough County jail on charges of sexual battery and false imprisonment.

Records show this as Rivera's seventh arrest since 1996. Previous charges include domestic violence, battery and child abuse.
