Air Force Master Sgt. Shawn E. Brumfield, brother of Russell Brumfield of Seminole, has been awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for superior airmanship, professional skill and courage during a combat airdrop in northern Iraq in March 2003. He is a standardization and evaluation loadmaster currently serving with the 62nd Operations Group, McChord Air Force Base, Tacoma, Wash. He is a 1985 graduate of Pinellas Park High School.

Army Pvt. Racheal A. Johnson, daughter of Norma J. Johnson of St. Petersburg, has graduated from the armament repair technician technical/tactical certification course at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Aberdeen, Md.

Marine Corps Sgt. Keston Lashley, son of Diana L. and John E. Lashley of St. Petersburg, has graduated from the Marine Corps Sergeants Course at Staff Noncommissioned Officer Academy, Marine Corps Air Station, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. He is a 1997 graduate of Lakewood High School.

Marine Corps Pvt. Hector E. Millan-Morales, son of Alice D. Morales and Hector A. Millan of Seminole, recently completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C.

Air Force Airman 1st Class John M. Samu, son of Veronica and John A. Samu of St. Petersburg, has graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is a 2001 graduate of St. Petersburg High School, and in 2003 earned an associate's degree from the International Academy of Design in Tampa.

Army Reserve Pvt. Nicholas J. Steiner, son of Cathy and James Young of St. Petersburg, has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Sills, Lawton, Okla.
