TAMPA - Authorities suspect alcohol may have been a factor in the fatal early-morning crash of a 33-year-old Tampa man who lost control of his motorcycle while going around a curve in New Tampa.
Andrew Spurgeon Lennon, 12418 N 15th St., was driving west on Bearss Avenue when he reached a curve at Lake Emerald Boulevard and lost control, said Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Debbie Carter.
Lennon flew off the motorcycle. By the time rescue workers were called to the scene at 7:15 a.m., he was dead, Carter said.
The sheriff's office is still investigating, but Carter said investigators suspect Lennon had been drinking.
Jail records show Lennon was arrested Aug. 3 and charged with driving under the influence and refusing to take a blood alcohol test, jail records show.
