Hills don't deter Seminole's Nicolosi

DADE CITY - Seminole's Heather Nicolosi took on some hills and won the flrunners.com Invitational girls varsity open race Saturday at Little Everglades Ranch.
"I took the lead where the girls run up the hill," said Nicolosi, who ran a personal best 18:56.65. "I like the hills. It's exciting."
The Seminole girls were seventh overall with 234 points, 152 behind winner Spruce Creek. Seminole senior Samantha Weeks was 11th in 21:08.64. Lakewood's Alexandra Crabb (20:07.06). took third in the girls varsity open.
Northeast's Jonathan Mott won the boys varsity open in 16:41.03.
St. Petersburg was seventh with 241 points, 142 behind champion Ida Baker. Northeast was 13th with 369 points. Matthew Mott was eighth in 17:30.59 for Northeast. St. Petersburg's Jonathan Mayhuers finished 10th in 17:33.44.
St. Petersburg's Kerry Allen was 17th (19:16.56) in the Race of Champions. Wellington freshman Ashley Brasovan won in 17:07.85. "I did okay," Allen said. "I decided to go out with the front pack. I didn't notice (the hills) all that much. I didn't think they were that bad. I didn't hold anything back."
The Seminole boys were third in the Race of Champions with 214 points. Warwick Valley Central won with 103.
