DADE CITY - It took a course record to put Jesuit's James Osborne in second place.

Osborne was the runnerup Saturday morning in the flrunners.com boys Race of Champions at Little Everglades Ranch.

Flagler Palm Coast's Justin Harbor won in a course-record 15:26.36. Osborne, a senior, finished in 15:34.47

"We were together until the 2 mile," Osborne said. "I just kept going. He took off."

Wharton's Baker Burchfield was 17th in 16:13.35. Jesuit's Connor Revord was 25th in 16:25.75.

Jesuit's boys finished eighth with 287 points, 184 behind winner Warwick Valley Central. Wharton was 11th with 315.

Gaither's Amanda Quick (18:26.93) took seventh in the girls 5K Race of Champions. Wharton's Jessica Forrester was 36th in 19:53.40.

"I had my tonsils out two weeks ago," Quick said. "I'm feeling strong, but not where I should be. My thing was to beat everyone in Tampa. I was happy."

"I thought she ran a very smart race," Gaither coach Ladd Baldwin said of Quick. "She usually shows up very well at flrunners.com."

Plant's girls were fourth overall with 216 points. Wharton was eighth with 259.

In the girls varsity open, Tampa Catholic's Clare Chadwick was sixth in 20:51.76.
