Feinstein will stay on Navy's air after curse

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Commentator John Feinstein will be back on the air for Saturday's Navy-Air Force game despite uttering an obscenity during the radio broadcast of last week's Navy game.

"No one feels worse about this than John. He made a mistake," Navy spokesman Scott Strasemeier said Tuesday.

Feinstein is a noted author of books about sports, including basketball, golf and the football rivalry between Army and Navy, titled A Civil War: Army vs. Navy.

During the broadcast, Feinstein directed a profanity at the referees after a play. Feinstein pulled himself from the rest of the broadcast, offered an on-air apology at the end of the game and immediately offered his resignation, which was rejected.

SOUTHERN MISS: Kicker Darren McCaleb faces a charge of simple assault stemming from an incident involving a female student, police said. McCaleb will appear in Forrest County (Miss.) Justice Court Nov. 1 to enter a plea. He was arrested Sept. 18.

GAMES MOVING: The Southern Mississippi-Houston game postponed because of Hurricane Rita was rescheduled for Nov. 13, a Sunday. ... Marshall's game at Tulane on Oct. 29 has been moved to Mobile, Ala.

TROY 13, NORTH TEXAS 10: Kenny Cattouse rushed for 109 yards as the visiting Trojans ended the Mean Green's 26-game Sun Belt Conference winning streak that began in 2001. North Texas (1-3, 1-1) had five turnovers, two of which led to points for Troy (2-3, 1-0).

USF: The Big East is scheduled to have 58 men's games nationally televised this season on CBS, ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU, but only one involves USF - Dec. 10 against Michigan on ESPN2. The league unveiled its 2005-06 TV schedule and five schools have 10 or more national games: Louisville (13), Connecticut (12), Villanova (12), Cincinnati (10) and Syracuse (10). The Bulls' game with Michigan is part of a doubleheader, following the USF women's game against Michigan State.

ELSWEHERE: Memphis coach John Calipari dismissed guard Jeremy Hunt for violating team policy and an agreement with the university. ... Tennessee senior forward Jemere Hendrix was dismissed from the university after being charged with marijuana possession and driving without a license.
