ORCHESTRA'S SEASON OPENER

The Florida Orchestra opens its season with Stravinsky's Fireworks, Shostakovich's Symphony No. 11 and Jon Kimura Parker as the soloist in Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 3. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the orchestra's temporary St. Petersburg home, the Pasadena Community Church; 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater; and 7:30 p.m. Monday in Morsani Hall at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center in Tampa. $15.50-$50.50. TAMPA FILM FEST

The 16th annual Tampa International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival kicked off Thursday and continues through Oct. 16 at Tampa Theatre and Sunrise Cinemas in Old Hyde Park Village. AIRFEST EXCITEMENT

Feats of derring-do, including shows by three-time world aerobatic champion Patty Wagstaff, will fill the skies over downtown St. Petersburg Saturday and Sunday during the third annual Suncoast AirFest. Other highlights include World War II vintage aircraft formation flights and displays, antique cars, food and music.
