Gary Shaw, who quit as Winky Wright's promoter Wednesday night, said he has the contracts in hand to finalize a bout between the St. Petersburg fighter and Sam Soliman and will sign them shortly.
"The deal is done," Shaw said.
Shaw said he hasn't had an opportunity to finalize the deal because he is promoting Diego Corrales for Saturday's rematch with Jose Luis Castillo in Las Vegas.
Shaw also said he will continue working with Wright after the two cleared the air Thursday following a dispute over negotiating.
"Everything will work itself out," Shaw said.
Chris Lighty, who will promote fights for Wright under the newly formed Winky Promotions, had been talking to possible sites in Texas and Washington for Wright's upcoming fight after Shaw already had closed a deal with a site in Connecticut.
Wright's adviser, Tampa attorney Jim Wilkes, said the dispute was just part of the growing pains associated with starting a promotional company.
"It's just been a big misunderstanding," Wilkes said. "I think everything will be okay."
Wright, ranked the No. 1 middleweight by the WBC and WBA, will meet Soliman, ranked No. 1 by the IBF, on Dec. 10 at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Conn.
WOMAN HEADLINES CARD: Plant City's Chevelle Hallback will become the first female fighter to headline a boxing card in Tampa when she battles Melissa Del Valle at A La Carte Pavilion tonight.
Hallback (24-4-1, 11 knockouts) captured the Women's International Boxing Association super featherweight title in March, beating Emiko Raika in Japan.
This will be her first fight in the Tampa Bay area, and her second against Del Valle.
Hallback defeated Del Valle (29-5-1, 11 KOs) in 2003, winning a 10-round unanimous decision and the IBA super featherweight title.
WBC Latino welterweight champion Irving Garcia (10-2, 5 KOs) will meet Jerome Ellis (8-3-1, 7 KOs) in the co-main event.
Doors open at 7 p.m. and the fights begin at 8 p.m. Tickets are still available.
