ENTERTAINING RACING: Actor/comedian Cedric the Entertainer plans to use Champ Car as a ... vehicle to promote future projects after buying into HVM Racing. Cedric is the open-wheel series' first African-American owner. The team will be known as CTE Racing-HVM. The entertainer said he considered buying into a NASCAR team, as did the Wayans brothers recently, but found Champ Car to be a better fit. "It seems to offer the most opportunity for me to come in and be able to make a difference, make an immediate mark and bring something to the team," he said.
TWO-TROPHY MAN: Dan Wheldon took a break during a Thursday tire test at Indianapolis Motor Speedway for a special photo shoot. His props: the Borg Warner Trophy, for the winner of the Indy 500, and the IndyCar Series championship trophy. He's the first to claim both in a season. He could have used an overnight kit, according to his handlers. "I think my hair is a little longer than it was in May," Wheldon said. "I think my PR agent is a little miffed at me because I forgot to shave, as well."
