This weeks games

THE HOT TICKET: Eagles at Cowboys, 4:15 p.m., Ch. 13

By JOANNE KORTH, Times Staff Writer
Published October 9, 2005

THE SCOOP: So far, the NFC East appears to be the league's toughest division thanks to stellar play from the quarterbacks. This matchup pits the NFL's top two third-down passers in Drew Bledsoe (120.6 rating) and Donovan McNabb (113). Philly has controlled the series lately, winning nine of the past 10 by an average victory margin of more than three touchdowns (22.1 points).

KORTH'S PICK: Eagles 24, Cowboys 17

THE BUCS: Bucs at Jets, 1 p.m., Ch. 13

THE SCOOP: Vinny Testaverde always found a way to beat the Bucs, even when he was one. But an immobile quarterback with two weeks of practice has to have the Bucs defense licking its chops.

KORTH'S PICK: Bucs 17, Jets 6

OTHER MATCHUPS Patriots at Falcons, 1 p.m.

THE SCOOP: The Falcons, who beat the Eagles at home in their opener, try for a Super Bowl sweep.

KORTH'S PICK: Falcons 21, Patriots 20

Dolphins at Bills, 1 p.m.

THE SCOOP: Kelly Holcomb to the rescue.

KORTH'S PICK: Bills 16, Dolphins 12

Bears at Browns, 1 p.m.

THE SCOOP: Trent Dilfer takes a pounding from the Bears defense, but avoids turning it over.

KORTH'S PICK: Browns 17, Bears 9

Ravens at Lions, 1 p.m.

THE SCOOP: Tough game to be a quarterback.

KORTH'S PICK: Lions 16, Ravens 10

Saints at Packers, 1 p.m.

THE SCOOP: The Packers have to win a game eventually. Don't they?

KORTH'S PICK: Packers 20, Saints 17

Titans at Texans, 1 p.m.

THE SCOOP: Houston owner Bob McNair won't like losing to the former Oilers.

KORTH'S PICK: Titans 24, Texans 21

Seahawks at Rams, 1 p.m.

THE SCOOP: Seattle's receivers are hurt; St. Louis' receivers are healthy.

KORTH'S PICK: Rams 37, Seahawks 17

Colts at 49ers, 4 p.m., Ch. 10

THE SCOOP: Alex Smith, meet Dwight Freeney.

KORTH'S PICK: Colts 35, 49ers 6

Panthers at Cardinals, 4:15 p.m.

THE SCOOP: Arizona is trying to get this game moved to Mexico City.

KORTH'S PICK: Panthers 21, Cardinals 15

Redskins at Broncos, 4:15 p.m.

THE SCOOP: Redskins fall from the ranks of the unbeaten.

KORTH'S PICK: Broncos 21, Redskins 10

Bengals at Jaguars, 8:15 p.m., ESPN

THE SCOOP: A national TV audience gets a look at the red-hot Bengals.

KORTH'S PICK: Bengals 24, Jaguars 14

MNF: Steelers at Chargers, 9 p.m.

BYE: Chiefs, Giants, Raiders, Vikings.

THE TALLY:

LAST WEEK: 8-6 overall, 5-8 vs. the spread.

SEASON: 35-25 overall, 23-35 vs. the spread.

Apparently, I'm going to keep picking the Pack until they win.
