DALLAS - The game was over, the Eyes of Texas had been sung and Vince Young was still on the run.
The Texas Longhorns had finally beaten the Oklahoma Sooners - stuck it to 'em 45-12 - and more than 30,000 people wearing burnt orange were on their feet Saturday turning five years of frustration into sheer joy. Young had as much to celebrate as anyone, so he whipped up a few more cheers by going along the stands slapping hands and posing for pictures.
"We wanted them to feel everything we were feeling," he said. "It was a great moment for all of us."
No. 2 Texas ended its longest losing streak in this 100-game series since the 1950s, and Young redeemed himself for last year's shutout and continued a 12-game run that includes beating Michigan in the Rose Bowl and winning at Ohio State.
The Sooners looked nothing like the clubs that beat the Longhorns by a combined score of 189-54 the past five years. OU came in unranked for the first time since its last loss to Texas in 1999. Running back Adrian Peterson, who gained 225 yards against the Longhorns last year, was limited to three early carries for 10 yards because of a sprained ankle.
The Sooners, led by freshman quarterback Rhett Bomar, didn't have a play go longer than 9 yards until there was 12:04 left and they were trailing 38-6.
Young finished 14-of-27 for 241 yards with three touchdowns, no interceptions and ran for 45 yards. Freshman running back Jamaal Charles had 116 yards on nine carries, then left with an injury in the third quarter, and Billy Pittman caught four passes for 100 yards and two touchdowns.
Texas is coming out of the OU game with a perfect record for the first time since 1983, when it was 11-0 before blowing a chance at finishing No. 1 by losing to Georgia in the Cotton Bowl.
No. 15 Texas Tech 34, Nebraska 31LINCOLN, Neb. - Cody Hodges threw a 10-yard score to Joel Filani on fourth and 2 from the 10 with 12 seconds left for Red Raiders, who squandered a three-touchdown lead.
Le Kevin Smith intercepted Hodges near the goal line with 1:11 left, but fumbled on the return. Danny Amendola recovered, setting up Tech at the Husker 18.
Taurean Henderson became Tech's leader in receptions, with six for 51 yards to raise his career total to 262, tying the NCAA record for receptions by a running back held by Long Beach State's Mark Templeton (1984-87).
COLORADO 41, TEXAS A&M 20: Joel Klatt threw for 211 yards in the first quarter en route to a 398-yard, three-touchdown game. Host Colorado finished with 559 yards against Texas A&M, which came in ranked last in the conference in passing yards allowed and 11th overall.
MISSOURI 38, OKLA. ST. 31: Receiver Brad Ekwerekwu scored on a reverse and threw a touchdown on another trick play for visiting Missouri. Quarterback Brad Smith rushed for 184 yards and Marcus Woods ran for one score, caught a TD pass and set up a third score with a 76-yard punt return for the Tigers, who built a 22-point lead and held off Oklahoma State with their offense more than their league-worst defense.
KANSAS ST. 12, KANSAS 3: Allan Evridge threw the winning, 8-yard pass to Jordy Nelson in the fourth quarter for visiting Kansas State. The Wildcats beat KU for the 12th time in 13 years.
