Big Ten: Don't look now - Lions in the hunt

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - Go ahead and say it: Penn State is back.

Back on top of the Big Ten and back in the hunt for a national title.

Michael Robinson and Derrick Williams ran for touchdowns less than three minutes apart in the second quarter, and Paul Posluszny and the Nittany Lions' defense did the rest in a 17-10 victory over No. 6 Ohio State on Saturday night.

When Tamba Hali sacked Troy Smith, knocked the ball loose and it was recovered by Scott Paxson with about a minute and a half remaining, all that was left was for Robinson to take a couple of knees to kill the clock.

Now, for the first time since that '99 season, Penn State is a player in the national title picture.

EVANSTON, Ill. - Freshman Tyrell Sutton ran for 244 yards and three touchdowns, and Reggie McPherson's last-minute interception sealed the Wildcats' upset.

Northwestern scored on seven straight possessions and finished with 674 yards of total offense against a Wisconsin defense that had allowed an average of 336.8.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The Golden Gophers planted their flag in the middle of the field and stormed Michigan's sideline looking for the Little Brown Jug.

They definitely earned it.

Jason Giannini kicked a 30-yard field goal with a second left, lifting Minnesota to a 23-20 win over the 21st-ranked Wolverines on Saturday for the Gophers' first win in the series since 1986.

Garrett Rivas had two chances to break a 20-all tie for the Wolverines, but he missed a 42-yard field goal late in the third quarter and a 34-yard kick with 8:27 left.

INDIANA 36, ILLINOIS 13: Blake Powers threw four touchdowns, while receiver James Hardy and running back Chris Taylor each topped 100 yards.

Hardy caught 10 passes for 118 yards and two touchdowns, while Taylor ran 18 times for 132 yards and one touchdown.

IOWA 34, PURDUE 17: Drew Tate passed for a career-high 357 yards and tossed three touchdown passes as the visiting Hawkeyes rolled.
