Prosecutors on Tuesday released 52 pages of John Couey's handwritten notes and drawings about the Bible, including his thoughts on fasting, patience and forgiveness.
"Don't allow a problem to become the biggest thing in your life," he wrote. "Worrying and struggling with it won't change anything."
Couey, 47, is charged with kidnapping, sexually assaulting and murdering 9-year-old Jessica Lunsford in Citrus County in February. Couey's writings were part of the latest round of discovery documents, bringing the total to more than 4,000 pages.
In his tight, neat handwriting, Couey described biblical tales, including a struggle between the angel Michael and the devil. He also sketched several crosses and mused whether humans have guardian angels. He included a joke about a man who gets three wishes. The man's final wish was to make himself appealing to women.
Couey's next scheduled court appearance is 2 p.m. Thursday in Inverness.
