College Night offers insight for students

SPRING HILL - Representatives from dozens of colleges will set up shop in Central High School tonight to meet with students considering their next step.

This is the second time the Hernando County School District is hosting "College Night."

School officials have lined up representatives from dozens of colleges, many of which are in Florida. College officials will meet with students and answer questions about admissions criteria.

In addition to the big state schools such as the University of Florida and Florida State, the event will include representatives from smaller schools like Western Carolina University and the Art Institute of Tampa.

In the past, different schools hosted their own college nights. But last year, district officials decided the county had grown big enough that it should hold one grand event for all high school students. The event attracted about 250 people last year.

The college night will take place in Central High School's cafeteria between 6 and 8 tonight.
