King High School student wins 'Seventeen' award

TAMPA PALMS - Rohini Komarla of Tampa Palms recently won Seventeen magazine's All-Star Award, in recognition of her volunteer work at Moffitt Cancer Center and her high academic performance.

The 17-year-old King High School senior is an International Baccalaureate student, ranking in the top 1 percent of all seniors in the county. The magazine will feature Komarla, the daughter of Ashok and Kausalya Komarla, in its February issue and then periodically update her story throughout the year.

Komarla, who has been honored by Congress for her work, says time management is key to completing all her activities and school work.

And she participates in so many things, including her school newspaper and volunteering with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, because she enjoys them - not because of the recognitions. "The actual thing I do for the awards is most important," she said.
