American Signature Furniture opens Oct. 28 in Pinellas Park

PINELLAS PARK - American Signature Furniture, one of the larger new tenants for the Shoppes at Park Place, opens Oct. 28.

The new store at 7230 U.S. 19 N has a 36,132-square-foot showroom offering a dozen different furniture collections that include Heirloom Classics, Arts & Crafts, Grand Regency and West Indies.

Store manager Ben Gusler said each collection has everything a customer needs in furniture and accessories and that sales people even will suggest paint colors.

The chain is based in Columbus, Ohio, and owns factories where most of its merchandise is made.

The Pinellas Park store is the second in the Tampa Bay area and the 12th in Florida for American Signature Furniture.

Association for Retarded Children opens adult job training program

ST. PETERSBURG - Pinellas Association for Retarded Children recently opened Suncoast Innovations, an adult day care training program that is part of PARC Center Industries.

The program, at 3190 Tyrone Blvd. N, offers job training for about 50 adults with developmental disabilities.

Oasis Massage and Therapeutic Touch offers therapies, Pilates and more

ST. PETERSBURG - Oasis Massage and Therapeutic Touch is open at 6387 Central Ave.

It offers hot stone therapies and Pilates plus relaxation and therapeutic massages among other treatments.

The business is owned by Jolanta and Jacek Loskot, who came to the United States from Poland eight years ago.

Minority business conference set for Nov. 3 at Poynter Institute

ST. PETERSBURG - A minority business development conference is scheduled for Nov. 3 at the Poynter Institute for Media Studies.

The conference is sponsored by the St. Petersburg Area Chamber of Commerce and the University of South Florida St. Petersburg.

It will run from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and feature seminars on topics such as marketing secrets and unwritten business rules. Guest speaker is Trudy Bourgeois, author of Her Corner Office.

The conference is free but a refundable registration fee of $20 is required to confirm a seat. To register, call Alvina Miller at the chamber, 821-4069.
