New Port Richey cancels Founder's Day celebration

By Times Staff Writer
Published October 20, 2005

NEW PORT RICHEY - The Greater New Port Richey Main Street Founder's Day celebration scheduled for this weekend has been canceled due to the threat posed by Hurricane Wilma.

"To retain the integrity of what we want that event to look like, we decided to park it into Main Street Holidays," Main Street executive director Judy DeBella Thomas said Wednesday. The features will lend an old-fashioned element to the December festival, she added. Those who purchased VIP tickets for Saturday's "Doo Wop with a Twist" concert can call Main Street at (727) 842-8066 for a refund.
