DIFFERENT GAME: During the week when Michelle Wie made her professional debut, future rival Morgan Pressel played in a high school match for St. Andrew's High in Boca Raton. She shot 69 in the A-21 district tournament. Not that it was a tough competition. St. Andrew's went unopposed - there were no other high schools in the district fielding a girls team. Three of the other players on the team did not break 100. "The people following her made the comment they think it's unbelievable she's still playing high school golf," said Pressel's grandfather, Herb Krickstein, to the Palm Beach Post. "But she wants to do something for the school. They've given her a lot of support. ... She's trying to help them. Although it's quite a step down from the last group of the U.S. Open (where Pressel tied for second), she hasn't changed."
TIGER ON THE MOVE? Tiger Woods has made his home in Orlando since turning professional in 1996. But he might be looking into a move. "I'm looking at places on the coast, both coasts," Woods said. "I was born next to the ocean. I'd like to live next to the ocean." Woods, who is from Southern California, was not specific, but he presumably meant the west coast or east coast of Florida. He said part of the consideration will be a suitable golf course at which to practice. Woods lives in the exclusive Isleworth community in Orlando. "People leave you alone," he said. "You can play and practice there. It's a big consideration. It's what I do for a living."
QUOTABLE: "I'm really sad, but the rules are the rules. Three inches or 100 yards is the same thing. I respect that." - Michelle Wie after being disqualified at the Samsung World Championship on Sunday, a day after it was discovered she had taken an illegal drop.
STAT OF THE WEEK
Jay Haas, 51, has made $512,153 in just eight starts on the Champions Tour. Playing on the PGA Tour, he has made $485,109, but it took 16 tournaments.
