Insurer allows earlier refills

TAMPA - Humana Inc. announced Wednesday it will allow its more than 600,000 members in the state of Florida to obtain early refills of their prescriptions in view of the approaching Hurricane Wilma and the severe weather threat the storm poses to Florida. The early-refill waiver is in effect statewide for all Florida Humana health plan members between now and Nov. 30. Humana members with questions are encouraged to call the toll-free customer service number on the back of their Humana identification cards.

CLOSINGS

The Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center has delayed the sale of tickets for the Broadway musical Wicked. Tickets, which were to have gone on sale Sunday for performances Jan. 15-Feb. 5, now will be sold beginning Oct. 30 at the box office, by phone, 813 229-7827, and at www.tbpac.org

The fundraising Walk to D'Feet ALS Tampa Bay that was scheduled for Saturday beginning in Al Lopez Park, Tampa, has been postponed. A new date will be set later. Toll-free 1-888-925-5257; www.alsa.org

The Greater New Port Richey Main Street Founder's Day celebration scheduled for this weekend has been canceled. "To retain the integrity of what we want that event to look like, we decided to park it into Main Street Holidays" in December, Main Street executive director Judy DeBella Thomas said. Those who purchased VIP tickets for Saturday's "Doo Wop with a Twist" concert can call Main Street at (727) 842-8066 for a refund.

Tampa Museum of Art has canceled its Pillars of Pavilion New Orleans Jazz Brunch scheduled for Saturday.

So far, the storm has not forced either the University of Tampa or the University of South Florida to cancel homecoming events scheduled for this weekend, but officials are watching the storm closely.

Hillsborough and Pinellas schools are planning to stay open, as are Hillsborough Community College and St. Petersburg College.

Due to the possibility of inclement weather associated with Hurricane Wilma, all Hillsborough County public high school football games scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday have been rescheduled for 7 p.m. today.
