ST. PETERSBURG -- Police are investigating an attempted break-in at mayoral candidate Ed Helm's campaign headquarters Thursday night.

A campaign worker arrived at the storefront at 3914 6th Street S Friday morning and noticed a small panel in the building's wooden back door had been cut out. A mesh screen covering the back door was also slashed.

The worker, Joyce McCarty, notified police. However, it did not appear anyone entered the headquarters, nor was anything tampered with or stolen, Helm said.

Helm said he planned to install a security camera, a donation from a supporter.
