TAMPA - A routine disturbance led police to a SoHo apartment filled with nine types of drugs - including methamphetamine and dozens of steroids, painkillers, powerful antibiotics and antianxiety pills.
Three men, including the 39-year-old who lived in the apartment, at 203 S Westland Ave., were jailed on charges of drug possession, delivery and sale.
Patrol officers first went to apartment No. 4 at 5:20 p.m. Wednesday, after someone complained about a disturbance, records show. One officer saw drug paraphernalia and called the antidrug squad.
It seized 100 pieces of drug paraphernalia and nine varieties of controlled substances, including Oxycodone and marijuana, according to a police report. It arrested the apartment resident, Jeffrey W. Uselton, on more than a dozen drug possession charges.
Before leaving, investigators urged other residents in the complex to report drug activity, said Tampa police spokesman Joe Durkin. At 11 p.m. Wednesday, one resident reported that two men were selling methamphetamine.
An undercover officer returned to the complex and bought 0.105 ounces of methamphetamine from Scott David Worthington, 31, of 4610 Armenia Ave. No. 4831, police said. Worthington tried to run from officers but was arrested and charged with several counts of drug possession and delivery, police said.
They also arrested Matthew K. Berry, 28, of Michigan after they discovered he, too, possessed methamphetamine, Durkin said.
Officers seized the maroon 1991 Chrysler LeBaron convertible that Worthington and Berry were driving. Inside, they found marijuana, methamphetamine, counterfeit meth, and GHB and Ketamine - drugs often found at all-night dance parties - police said.
