The eighth-graders at each don't lose a match, and the seventh-graders at each come close.

HUDSON - Perfect aptly describes volleyball seasons for the eighth-graders from Hudson and Pine View, who went 10-0 and 8-0, respectively, to win west- and east-side titles.
And the seventh-grade squads from those schools nearly matched that, with Hudson finishing 9-1 in the west and Pine View tying Centennial atop the east at 7-1.
Hudson's first-place marks gave that school three fall champions, thanks to the football teams' 6-0 season.
"It probably starts with how well the high school programs do," Hudson volleyball coach Mark Holifer said, alluding to the high school's perennial volleyball contender and resurgent football team. "That filters down here."
Hudson went the entire season without playing three games in a match. Its closest competitions came against Gulf (28-26, 25-11) and Bayonet Point (25-17, 25-9).
"I guess it just boosted our confidence," setter Alicia Schuering said of winning the close ones.
Lisa Kerns led the Cougars with 80 points, and Shannon Zasloff scored 79. They were followed by Schuering (56 points), Tiffany Price (52) and Katy McGee (48).
Hudson's top defenders were Stacy Swezey and Megan Lisco.
Pat King, who has coached volleyball and girls basketball at Pine View for 16 seasons, has three basketball titles. This is her first in volleyball and is especially rewarding because it is the school's first unbeaten season.
"This is the first time we've ever had goose eggs," King said. "This is the right team and this is the right time."
Co-captains Kasey Murray, a setter, and outside hitter Lindsey Robinson led the Panthers in scoring with 69 points apiece. Outside hitter Regan Knapik was next with 63. And Caitlyn Morehouse was strong at the net.
Pine View only went to three games twice, once each against Pasco and Centennial.
