Ricky Thomas had a grand return to Weightman Middle this season. In his second stint as the Wildcats coach, Thomas led the team to a 5-1 record and share of the east division title in the Pasco County Middle School Athletic Conference.
Thomas is 108-11 with 10 county titles in 17 seasons at Weightman, Pasco Middle and Pasco Junior High. A physical education teacher at Weightman, he is 40-4 there.
Thomas also coached his alma mater, Pasco High, becoming the county's first black head coach at that level in 1996. He led the Pirates to a 45-29 mark and a district title in seven seasons.
