Georgia likely will be without quarterback D.J. Shockley on Saturday against Florida while South Carolina will be without quarterback Syvelle Newton for the season.
Shockley, a senior, sprained his left knee scrambling in the second quarter of a 23-20 win over Arkansas. Joe Tereshinski would start in Jacksonville. Coach Mark Richt said Shockley's injury is not season ending but described him as doubtful.
Newton, who will be replaced by Blake Mitchell, tore his left Achilles' tendon during an 11-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter of a 35-28 win over Vanderbilt. Lining up at quarterback, receiver and tailback, the junior earlier threw two touchdowns.
Newton, who used a towel to cover tears as he was carted off the field, said in a statement he believes somebody jumped on his foot in the end zone.
